Perros perdidos: la importancia de los métodos de identificación.

Un exceso de confianza por nuestra parte suele ser una de las principales causas de los perros extraviados. La perdida de nuestra mascota supone un peligro para ellos mismos, pero, también un riesgo importante para los demás. 

Se considera perdido a un perro cuando deja de estar bajo el control y la responsabilidad, de forma accidental e involuntaria, de sus dueños. 

La mejor forma para encontrar a nuestro perro ,lo más pronto posible, es la identificación del animal. Con el tiempo y gracias a los avances en el mundo de las tecnologías, los métodos para su recuperación cada vez son más sofisticados y precisos: medallas, tatuajes o microchip. 

El microchip es el mejor método de identificación. Es preciso, en el caso de perdidas no habrá dudas sobre la identidad del animal. Es inviolable, no se puede cambiar. Es duradero, aunque, será preciso realizar las pertinentes revisiones periódicas. Inocuo, no es dañino para nuestra mascota y su aplicación es poco traumática, apenas produce dolor. 

Si nuestra mascota lleva un microchip y se pierde lo primero que deberemos hacer es ponernos en contacto con el registro correspondiente y notificar su desaparición. 

Automáticamente, se activarán las medidas precisas para avisar a los dueños si se encuentra al perro y no se lleva al animal a una clínica para lectura de su chip. 

Lo más importante es evitar que nuestra mascota se pierda y, para que esto no ocurra, lo mejor es que los dueños recurran a todos los métodos de localización posibles. Además del chip, es conveniente utilizar una medalla identificadora para su pronta lectura sin necesidad de acudir a un clínica o un local de las fuerzas del orden, donde muchas veces no disponen del lector. 

Recordar que en la mayoría de los casos, un perro se pierde por culpa de sus dueños, ya sea por un exceso de confianza o por no haber sabido valorar de forma adecuada los riesgos.

Enfermedades: Anemia

La baja cantidad de glóbulos rojos puede ser por muchas causas: pérdida de sangre por una herida traumática, desórdenes inmunológicos, cáncer, infecciones parasitarias, intoxicación o envenenamiento. 

En estos casos, nuestro veterinario tendrá que diagnosticar el tipo de anemia y el origen. Los síntomas que presentará el perro serán, entre otros, encías pálidas, piel amarillenta, letargo, colapso o aceleración respiratoria. 

¿Cómo tratar la anemia? 

• El veterinario especificará las causas y planificará un tratamiento acorde al tipo de anemia que presente el perro. 
• La anemia provocada por la pérdida de sangre será tratada por medio de transfusiones. En este caso, el veterinario empleará sangre entera, glóbulos rojos o sangre sintética. 
• La anemia ferropénica, la más común de las anemias, es aquella producida por un déficit de hierro sanguíneo y, será tratada con inyecciones y suplementos orales. 
• Tendremos que estar alerta de las lombrices, pulgas, o garrapatas. Los parásitos externos o internos pueden causar anemia. Los anquilostomas gastrointestinales o los chupadores de sangre externos pueden reducir la cantidad de glóbulos rojos del perro. 
• Si un perro ha sido envenenado o intoxicado es fundamental identificar el tipo de toxina. Los venenos para ratas y lauchas pueden provocar casos graves de anemia. 
• En el caso de enfermedades como el cáncer, desórdenes inmunológicos  o un mal funcionamiento de los riñones, el veterinario desarrollará un tratamiento específico que se efectivo para combatir este tipo de anemia. 
• La ingestión de monedas, de forma accidental puede provocar anemia por una toxicidad de zinc.

Pasta con Carne

Por un lado cocer la pasta hasta que quede un poco pasada. Por otro, cocer la carne con una patata y después cortar en trozos muy pequeños.

Pescado con Verduras 

Este plato puede que a muchos les sorprenda, ya que, el pescado se ha asociado siempre  como patrimonio exclusivo de los gatos.

Es cierto que los perros sienten debilidad por la carne, pero, también les gusta y pueden comer perfectamente pescado.

Los pescados blancos, como la pescadilla o la merluza, son los ideales para las recetas de nuestras mascotas. El pescado azul, como el atún, es mucho más indigesto y además tienen más grasa.

Lo primero que tendréis que hacer para realizar un guiso de pescado será limpiarlo y quitarle las espinas. Después, podéis cocerlo o hacerlo a la plancha.

Por otra parte, cocer un par de acelgas, una patata y un puñado de arroz. Una vez tengáis todo cocinado, mezclar todos los alimentos y aliñarlos con una pizca de sal yodada y una cucharada de aceite de maíz.

Precauciones antes de cocinar: 

• No se debe incluir en ninguna receta casera canina carne de cordero o cruda, ya que, la grasa de estos alimentos no sientan bien a los estómagos de los perros. 

• La cebolla es otro ingrediente que no se debe incluir en las comidas caseras caninas. 

• Los huesos, muchos dueños tienen la manía de dárselos a sus mascotas para que los "repelen" tampoco se deben añadir en sus comidas. Pueden producir perforaciones intestinales y, en muchos casos, estreñimiento. 

• Los únicos huesos que se recomiendan son los de rodilla de vaca, puesto que son gruesos, generosos en carne y no hay peligro de que se astillen.

En este post os explicaremos cómo preparar platos caseros caninos de un modo sano y equilibrado: 

Arroz con Pollo

Cocer el arroz hasta que alcance una textura caldosa. Después coceremos una zanahoria con trozos de pollo. 

Una vez esté todo cocido, mezclar la carne y la verdura con el arroz. Es importante cortar el pollo y la zanahoria en trozos muy pequeños. 

Para darle un poco de sabor al arroz, añadir una cucharada de aceite de maíz y una pizca de sal yodada. 

Jamón York con Verduras

El jamón york es un alimento sano y equilibrado para nuestras mascotas, ya que, no tiene grasa ni huesos. Un buen plato para el perro será el jamón combinado con unas verduras hervidas que le darán un toque de sabor a este guiso canino. 

Cocer un puerro, una patata mediana, una zanahoria y un puñado de acelgas. Una vez estén cocidas las verduras añadir dos lonchas finas de jamón york, cortadas en trozos pequeñitos, y aliñar con una cucharada de aceite de maíz y una pizca de sal yodada. 

Recordar que a la hora de cocinar para vuestras mascotas es importante seguir ciertas pautas, para obtener un plato sano y equilibrado. No se puede echar ingredientes en los platos sin ningún tipo de criterio: arroz 70% de plato, carnes sin grasa ni hueso entre un 20% y 30% y las verduras deben constituir el 15% del plato.

Razas de perros hipoalergénicas

Son razas caninas que, en teoría,  son más seguras que otras razas para las personas que sufren alergias. Los alergistas reconocen que existen pacientes alérgicos que toleran mejor un cierto tipo de perro, pero, en general los médicos a este respecto coinciden en que no existe un patrón generalizado que se ajuste a todas las personas y todas las razas de perros. 

El principal alérgeno es una proteína que se encuentra en la saliva y la caspa y escoriaciones de la piel del perro, producida por las glándulas sebáceas, es decir, aunque se posea un perro sin pelo, la mascota puede producir alégeno de todas maneras. 

Existen numerosas listas que especulan sobre qué razas son hipoalergénicas y cuales no. El grado en que un tipo particular de perro es hipoalergénico para una persona en particular puede variar en las características de la persona. 

A continuación os mostramos una lista científica, elaborada por doctores o veterinarios, de razas que son mencionadas como hipoalergénicas: 

• Airedale Terrier: no pierde pelo. 
• Terrier americano: no tiene pelo y no tienen caspa. 
• Basenji: no pierde pelo. 
• Bedlington Terrier: no pierde pelo. 
• Collie Barbudo: el ph del pelo es igual al del pelo humano. 
• Collie: pierde muy poco pelo. 
• Bichón Boloñés: no pierde pelo. 
• Cairn Terrier: pierde muy poco pelo. 
• Crestado Chino: posee muy poco pelo, pierde poco, pero, aún así tiene saliva y caspa.

• Bichón Habanés: no pierde pelo.

Los Canguros

Son los animales más populares de Australia, existen al menos 53 especies distribuidas por toda Oceanía. Son herbívoros y tienen hábitos nocturnos: comen hierbas cuando el sol se ha ocultado, entre unas siete y diez horas diarias. Para hacerlo se desplazan a cuatro patas, de manera parecida a la de los conejos. 

Sus saltos son capaces de superar los 3,30 m de alto y los 9 m de longitud. Saltan en posición bípeda, con las patas traseras juntas, de manera que parecen movidos por un resorte, alcanzando los 20 km/h. 

Los canguros rojos son los más grandes, los machos llegan a medir 1,40 m. Tienen más de un metro de cola y pueden pesar unos 80 kg. Las hembras son bastantes más pequeñas, miden cerca de un metro y no superan los 35 kg. 

Sus extremidades anteriores son cortas y tienen cinco dedos. Cuando dos machos luchan por una hembra, se agarran con las dos manos y se golpean, como si fuese un combate de boxeo.
