¿Por qué debemos cepillar los dientes de nuestras mascotas?

Normalmente en la superficie de los dientes de los perros o los gatos, se forma una película invisible compuesta por células muertas y bacterias que se adhieren al esmalte por una especie de cemento llamado glucopolisacárido. 

Esta formación se llama Placa Bacteriana y se forma, más o menos, en un plazo de 48 horas. Por eso, deberemos cepillar los dientes de nuestras mascotas a diario y acompañarlo de una alimentación adecuada, de esta manera evitaremos una aparición temprana del sarro dental. 

La enfermedad periodontal consiste en un proceso lento pero inexorable que evitaremos con un correcto cepillado dental, visitas periódicas al veterinario y un minucioso cuidado hogareño. 

Esta patología de curso crónico, puede atacar al resto del organismo mediante un proceso infeccioso. 

¿Cómo y cuándo cepillar los dientes de nuestras mascotas? 

• Consultar con nuestro médico veterinario para las revisiones pertinentes. 
• Cepillar los dientes con frecuencia, dos veces a la semana como mínimo. 
• Tener paciencia, ya que, cepillar los dientes de nuestras mascotas es una tarea complicada. Si la mascota no los pone difícil podremos limpiar un par dientes al principio para que el animal se acostumbre hasta que podamos cepillar la boca entera. 
• Deberemos utilizar cepillos blandos y no utilizar bajo ningún concepto pasta de dientes para humanos por su toxicidad. Nuestro veterinario nos recomendará pastas de dientes para mascotas o productos caseros que cumplan la misma función. 
• El cepillo debe estar colocado en un ángulo de 45º en la unión del diente con la encía, mediante masajes circulares suaves. 
• Para facilitar la predisposición de nuestra mascota al cepillado dental, deberemos premiarlo después de la limpieza. 
• Las revisiones deberán realizarse cada seis meses. 

Why should we brush our pets teeth?

How and when to brush the teeth of our pets?

Brushing your teeth regularly, twice a week at least.

Have patience, because, brushing teeth of our pets is a complicated task. If the pet gets tough we can not clean up a few teeth at first for the animal until we can get used to brush the entire mouth.

We shall use soft brushes and not under any circumstances use toothpaste for humans because of its toxicity. Our vet will recommend pet toothpaste or homemade products fulfilling the same function.

The brush should be placed at an angle of 45 ° in the attachment of the tooth to the gum, using gentle circular movements.

To facilitate the disposition of our pet tooth brushing, we reward after cleaning.

The checks should be done every six months.
